Warriors In The Workplace Chosen As Beneficiary of A3G Salute to Valor Event
(Patten, ME) September 1, 2015 Warriors In The Workplace, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charity, is excited to announce that it has been chosen as one of six veteran’s charities that will benefit from the Atlanta 3 Gun Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms event to be held November 13-15th at the South River Gun Club in Covington, GA. Registration is limited to 180 participants, and can now be accessed at www.salutetovalor.org.
The event is the brainchild of Jordan Blake, a veteran who recently separated from the service. She found herself facing the same situation that many veterans face as they return home, having a highly skilled resume that is hard to translate to a civilian hiring population. To help take her mind off the stress of her employment search, Jordan began competing in pistol competitions, which soon led to 3 Gun competitions. It was this hobby that put her in touch with Chris Palmer, Director of the Atlanta 3 Gun Club, and together they created the Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms event.
Working closely with Special Operations Care Fund, Blake and Palmer started their list with the four charities that SOC-F supports. The competition’s format would require two more organizations to support, so Blake reached out to friends to see which organizations they had worked with for suggestions.
“Warriors In The Workplace’s mission to help veterans find employment really hit close to home, as I was looking for work at the time and know first hand how frustrating it can be to have all the skills an employer is looking for, but they don’t understand what they see on our resume. The other piece that really stood out about the organization was the work they are doing to raise awareness about the number of military suicides. Both of these issues are something that we at A3G Salute to Valor feel strongly in supporting” explained Jordan Blake, cofounder of A3G Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms.
Warriors In The Workplace will join with five other charities as recipients at the November event. Also included are F7 Group: Operation Engaging Vision, Lone Survivor Foundation, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Unit Scholarship Fund, and the Shepherd Center. More information on each of the charities can be found on the event website at www.salutetovalor.org.
The A3G Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms event is a 3-Gun match that will have 180 participants who will be divided into 6 teams. Each team will be representing one of the 6 chosen charities, and competing for their charity to bring home 20% of all of the money raised by the event. The remaining proceeds will be split equally by the remaining 5 charities. The event is free for the public to come and watch, and tickets to the banquet will be on sale through the event website. There is a growing list of silent auction items, and the event is growing as planning continues.
“We are truly honored to be have been chosen among such a great group of organizations that are working to help our veterans and excited to be represented at the A3G Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms event,” said John Birmingham, Executive Director of Warriors In The Workplace. “I was honored to be introduced to Jordan through one of my closest friends that is a Marine Corps Veteran. Jordan’s exemplary military career, and service to our country even in a civilian capacity, left me wanting to know more about her and any effort she is involved with. It is a shame that someone with her credentials suffered the same fate as so many of our returning Veterans with finding employment within the civilian sector. We hope that the awareness that the A3G Salute to Valor event brings to Warriors In The Workplace helps us to prevent such occurrences for other returning Veterans.'”
The A3G Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms is a 3-Gun match designed to honor our Veterans, and to provide assistance and support the six 501(c) 3 Veterans’ charities that are working hard to bridge the gap between available federal resources and the actual needs that exist. These are community-based, privately-funded organizations which have identified those needs that aren’t being met and are working passionately and diligently to do just that. In addition to raising money, A3G Salute to Valor presented by Atlanta Arms hopes to raise awareness and increase exposure for our partner charities. This event will be unique in many ways and we are very grateful to our sponsors for their willingness to stand behind this mission. Warriors In The Workplace, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, was created to honor the memory of a local hero. As a Marine, he had survived 2 tours of Iraq and one in Afghanistan and had been awarded a purple heart. Facing a staggering unemployment rate and suffering from PTSD, he took his own life. Similar tragedies play out daily, with an average of 22 military suicides per day. Warriors In The Workplace is the organization that was created in the wake of his loss to help our returning veterans. The initiative is specifically geared toward the men and women of the U.S. Military, to offer them employment opportunities based upon skills they have acquired and perfected throughout their military careers.
